a crucifix reflected

Danny Gentile

a crucifix reflected

in the window

of a laundromat

and a hat

on a stand

at the hairdresser

I wish the night

was over as I

return home

in a covering

of scarves thinner

than my reflection

and colder than

the blue light from

the butcher’s shop

where a metal

lawn sits enfolded

by a plastic garden

a false

green waiting

for a dawning of blood
